DISB Introduces Online Licensing Applications for Financial Institutions in DC

The Banking Bureau of the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB) is introducing new web-based application forms and instructions for the licensing of mortgage lenders and brokers, money lenders, check cashers, money transmitters and consumer sales finance organizations. There is also a new application for the registration of ATM machines.

These changes are intended to streamline the applications process by separating the application from its instructions and by permitting the applicant to complete the form online, then print and mail for processing. The Banking Bureau is also introducing a new lock-box arrangement, in which all applications with payments will be mailed to a post office box, or lock-box.

The new application forms, instructions, check-lists and related information are available online. Applicants are encouraged to begin using the new forms immediately. The former application forms will not be accepted after September 1, 2005.

Completed applications including payments should be sent by regular mail to our lock-box at:

DISB - Banking Bureau
Box 96378
Washington, DC 20090-6378

All other correspondence that does not include payments may be sent to:

Banking Bureau
Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking
810 First Street, NE, #701
Washington, DC 20002

Should you have any questions regarding this notice or the application forms, please send an email inquiry to the Banking Bureau.
