(Washington, DC) On November 16, 2004, organizers for the proposed Bank of Georgetown filed an application with the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking to establish a bank under the District of Columbia Banking Code. Pursuant to section 5(b)(1)(B) of the District of Columbia Regional Interstate Banking Act of 1995 (DC Official Code § 26-704(b)(1)(B) (2001)), the Commissioner of the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (“Commissioner”) is required to hold a public hearing on the application. The Commissioner hereby gives notice that he will hold a public hearing on the Bank of Georgetown charter application on January 28, 2005, at 10 am, at the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking located at 810 First Street, NE, Suite 701, Washington, DC 20002.

Requests to testify should be submitted no later than noon on January 27, 2005. Testimony should be limited to five minutes in duration. The record of the hearing will remain open until January 31, 2005 for the submission of written comments. Any person who is deaf, or because of a hearing impairment cannot readily understand or communicate the spoken English language, may apply to the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking for the appointment of a qualified interpreter.
