(Washington, DC) Scott Wilkolaski, a former insurance adjuster who conducted business in the District of Columbia, pleaded guilty and was sentenced today in the DC Superior Court to one count of Attempted Second Degree Insurance Fraud, which carries a potential maximum penalty of 180 days and a potential fine of $1,000 or both.
According to the evidence, from April 27, 2001 through September 2001, Wilkolaski was employed by First Washington Insurance Company, ("FWIC") a commercial automobile insurance carrier licensed to do business in the District of Columbia. During that time period Wilkolaski falsified third party claimant information and fabricated accident reports on two claims stealing approximately $5,013.66 from FWIC.
These matters were investigated by Carl Ditchey, Insurance Fraud Investigator, District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities & Banking, Fraud Bureau. The plea agreement was arranged by Stephanie Miller, Assistant U.S. Attorney, U.S. Attorney's Office. Judge Harold Cushenberry Jr., District of Columbia Superior Court, sentenced Wilkolaski to one year of unsupervised probation and restitution to FWIC in the amount of $5,013.66.
